Position Overview:
Tesla is hiring a Frontend Software Engineer to join its Software Engineering team, dedicated to building internal tools for managing the lifecycle of Tesla's energy installations and vehicle-related services. These tools play a crucial role in supporting Tesla employees as they design, permit, install, and manage Tesla energy systems and products.
In this role, you'll help build a scalable, stable, and future-proof platform for a wide range of Tesla products, with an emphasis on enabling internal users to automate and streamline processes from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support frontend applications and systems within the team’s scope.
- Write clean, modular, and high-performance code that is easy to test and maintain.
- Implement and maintain unit and integration tests and coordinate with QA on timely regression testing.
- Monitor production metrics and logs, respond to system alerts, and resolve technical issues.
- Analyze existing systems and suggest technical upgrades or performance improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, Designers, and Business stakeholders to deliver quality features.
- Proactively communicate timeline changes, technical risks, and blockers to relevant team members.
- Take end-to-end ownership of features—design, development, testing, documentation, and deployment.
- Continuously work to improve scalability, availability, and maintainability of frontend systems.
- Create clear documentation for newly built features and technical implementations.
Key Technical Skills:
JavaScript, HTML, CSS, ES6, Angular, SQL, RESTful APIs, HTTP, JSON, AJAX, DOM, Vite, NPM, Yarn, GraphQL
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Strong knowledge of core web technologies like HTTP, AJAX, REST, and JSON.
- Proficient in JavaScript/ES6, HTML, CSS, and DOM manipulation.
- Good understanding of SQL databases and how to write and optimize queries.
- Solid experience with Angular and understanding of modern frontend architecture and design patterns.
- Familiarity with frontend tooling such as Vite, NPM, and Yarn.
- Experience or interest in GraphQL is considered a strong plus.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in production environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a problem-solving mindset.
